Thirty one local fishermen who engaged in illegal fishing using tow banned fishing nets in the Baththalangunduwa and Kibulbokka sea areas on Sunday were arrested, the Navy said.
A pair of diving fins and three GPSs were also taken into custody during the arrest. The arrested persons and the items have been handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries (Puttalam) for further investigations.
