Sri Lanka Navy Patrol Craft, apprehended three suspects with 154.6 kg of Kerala Cannabis which they were transferring by a dinghy. The detection was made in the seas northwest of Kankesanthirai yesterday (23), the Navy stated.
Further search into the incident revealed information of two more suspects in connection to this cannabis transportation in Uduththurei sea area. The two suspects and a dinghy were also taken into custody. The arrested stock of cannabis, suspects and dinghies were handed over to the Kankesanthirai Police for further investigations.
The Navy had arrested 700 kg of Kerala Cannabis during search operations carried out in northern seas from 2016 to 24th February 2017.
