Navy with the assistance of the Mannar Police arrested a person with Kerala cannabis in Mannar town yesterday, Navy said.
Naval personnel attached to the North Central Naval Command in coordination with officials of the Mannar Police had searched a person at the road block erected in Mannar town and found 300g of Kerala cannabis in his possession. The suspect has been identified as a resident of Theldeniya, Kandy, aged 30. Mannar Police is conducting further investigation with regard to the apprehended person and cannabis.
The Navy plays a major role to prevent selling and possession of illegal drugs in the country which are practiced by violating the Excise Ordinance.
