Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne made an inspection visit at the Port of Hambantota yesterday, Navy said. During this visit, Vice Admiral Wijegunaratne conducted a Security Audit of the harbour premises in respect to the deployment of SLN personnel stationed at the location for security.
Subsequently, Vice Admiral Wijegunaratne also declared open the messes built for the Rapid Deployment Teams (RDT) stationed within the harbour premises in order to provide security for the ships, people and other facilities.
Addressing the gathering, the Commander of the Navy praised the efforts of the naval personnel who tirelessly render their service for the achievement of defensive and national goals whilst maintaining good rapport with the civilian population in the area.
