Teams of Navy personnel have been deployed for security at the Norochcholai Power Plant, Navy Spokesman Lieutenant Commander Isuru Sooriyabandara said.
While obeserving that these personnel would be stationed both within and outside the premises of the power Plant, the Spokesman said that this decision was made since the security arrangements at the power plant were not adequate.
Accordingly, inspection checks will be carried out on all vehicles and persons entering the premises of the power station in addition to joint inspection patrols which would be carried out by the Police and the Special Task Force.
Meanwhile, the Norochcholai police said that jammers have been provided to Navy and Police officers to bring down any drone that is seen operating above the Norochcholai coal power plant.
Drones were witnessed hovering atop the plant during the last two days. Police and tri-forces personnel have been deployed to engage in search operations in the area since today morning.
