New unit to replace Anti-Corruption Secretariat

News

A new 'Public Relations Unit' will be set up today at the premises of the recently closed down Anti-Corruption Secretariat. The Government states that the new unit, which will function under the Prime Minister's office, will handle duties which had been previously carried out by the Anti-Corruption Secretariat.

Former Secretary to the Ministry of Pub Administration, J. Dadallage will head the new unit.

According to the Government, the unit will accept complaints from the public with regard to issues in the state service, including those related to corruption. It will look into the complaints and forward them to the relevant state agencies for further action.

Minister of Law & Order Sagala Rathnayake and Prime Minister's Secretary Saman Ekanayake are among the dignitaries who will attend the ceremony to officially declare open the new unit this morning.
