A six-member high-level delegation of the Nigerian Army has arrived in the country to learn about the training activities of the Sri Lanka Army’s Special Forces.
During their five-day stay, the delegation will observe several training activities, including camouflage and concealment demonstrations, combat rider firing skills, and mock urban terrain operations.
The delegation, led by Major General G Oyefesobi the Director (Administration) of the Nigerian Army, called on Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva yesterday.
The Sri Lankan Army Chief had explained the possibilities for the Nigerian Army to receive training in Sri Lanka, and share their experiences with Sri Lankan military personnel.
Accordingly, the delegation had stated that they are “seriously considering to send more troops to Sri Lanka for Special Forces training in future” a press release from the Army Headquarters read.
The release noted that two Nigerian army officers are already receiving training in Sri Lanka.
