Nine students of the Ruhuna University who were engaged in a research on the Great Western Mountain Range were hospitalized last evening after being stung by wasps.
The students had trekked about five kilometres into the mountain range when they were attacked by wasps. They were rescued by estate workers, who transported them down the mountain.
It had taken some three hours for all the injured students to be carried down the mountain, where they were loaded onto waiting "Suwaseriya" ambulances.
The students were admitted to the Lindula Hospital for treatment.
