One million deaths due to COVID-19 worldwide
The corona virus pandemic has now claimed one million lives around the world, according to the latest official death toll figures, with more than 33 million cases.
In total, 1,000,207 people have died according to Worldometer, which calculates the totals from sources including governments.
Since the first-known cases emerged at a Wuhan wet market in December 2019, the pattern of life has been drastically, perhaps in some ways irrevocably, altered the world over.
In Sri Lanka so far 3,349 persons have been infected with COVID-19 while 3,208 have recovered.
