The Department of Immigration and Emigration will be calling online applications from May 11 for the extension of visas of foreigners currently in the country.
The department says there are over 10, 000 foreigners still in the country. The Immigration Department had already extended all types of visas issued to foreigners by 30 days on two occasions due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The latest extension is set to expire on May 12.
An Immigration Department official said they are advising foreigners to check the department website from May 11 for online applications to extend their visas. The official added that once the application has been uploaded, the applicant will be notified a date on which to visit the department with their passport and pay the relevant visa fee. Their passports will then be stamped with the new extension date.
Due to health and social distancing guidelines currently in place, only about 100 such applicants will be called by the department on any given date.
