Palitha Thewarappareuma, five others granted bail

Deputy Minister Palitha Thewarapperuma and five others have been granted bail in the case involving the forcible burial of a body in an unauthorised land while allegedly violating a court order.

The order was issued when the suspects were produced before the Matugama Magistrate's court today (Sept 16). During the hearing, each of the suspects was released on two surety bails worth Rs 100,000 each.

The suspects have been accused of forcibly burying a body in the cemetery at Troit Estate in Nebada, Matugama.

Further hearing on the case has been fixed for December 10.
