An attorney representing Perpetual Treasuries (Ltd.) owner Arjuna Aloysius has alleged that his client along with two of his attorneys were obstructed by CID officials.
The matter was put forward before the Colombo Chief Magistrates Court today (Jan 10).
The attorney claimed that Mr. Aloysius along with the CEO of Perpetual Treasuries (Ltd.) Kasun Palisena were obstructed when they had reported before the CID along with their lawyers last Sunday.
A petition was also filed by the attorney representing Mr. Aloysius, by pointing out that his clients had adhered to the stipulated bail conditions which ordered them to report before the CID on Sundays.
Further, he alleged that CID officials had obstructed the suspects and their attorneys while also addressing them in a foul manner.
Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne, after considering the motion had said that the police should permit lawyers to accompany their clients to law enforcement departments such as the CID since the constitution has granted powers to do so.
