The petition seeking a ruling on the constitutional provisions to summon Parliament despite an interim injuction being in effect will be heard before the Supreme Court on May 03.
The petiton was filed by former Parliamentarian Sarath Weerasekara who had sought a ruling to be issued against the Parliament's Secretary General and the Attorney General by claiming that they did not have the constitutional powers to convene Parliament in the backdrop of an interim injuction issued on the summoning of Parliament.
However, the Attorney General had requested court to dismiss the case since court had already issued a verdict on the summoning of Parliament.
Speaker Karu Jayasuriya, the Secretary General of Parliament and the Attorney General have been named as respondents in the case.
