A protest is being carried out by plantation workers who have been demanding a wage increase upto Rs 1000 in Matara today (Dec 08).
The protesters had said that they were receiving a sum of only Rs 500 per day as of now and cited that it was insufficient to fulfill their daily needs.
It is reported that a decline in plantation activites have been witnessed across the island due to the indefinite strike launched by plantation workers.
