Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday called on all parties to co-operate with the new government to enable the success for its 100 day program as it would enhance democracy and restore the rights of the people. Making his maiden speech as Premier, Mr.Wickremesinghe said that the government would ensure that it promises of scaling down the executive presidency as well as restoring the 17 th amendment would be done in the first 100 days in office. It is the responsibility of all of us to restore the powers of Parliament which has been devalued in the recent years he said. Leader of the Opposition Nimal siripala De Silva said the SLFP would extend its support to the new governments program. He also cngratulated the President Maithripala Siripala on his election. Several other party leaders also spoke in Parliament today. Government will present a vote on account to Parliament on January 29 as part of fulfiling its pledges made under the 100 day program. (ck)
