Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe who visited the Zion Church in Batticaloa today (May 03) distributed Rs 1 million as compensation for the families of those who lost their lives in the recent terrorist explosions.
In addition, funds upto Rs 500,000 were also distributed to those injured in the Easter Sunday terror attacks in order to meet their medical expenses.
Speaking to the press in Batticaloa, Mr. Wickremesinghe noted that investigations are currently underway to determine whether there are more terrorist groups operating in the country. "I wish to state that the ISIS terrorist group will be eliminated from this country," he said.
The Prime Minister also urged the general public to support the ongoing efforts by providing any information to the security forces.
"I wish to thank the religious leaders, doctors, other relevant bodies, the Police and the armed forces, and also public servants for remaining patient following the incident," he remarked.
