Police bust fake currency racket

Two suspects who were in possession of fake currency notes amounting to over Rs 100, 000 have been taken into custody by the Vaddukkoddai Police. 

The suspects were taken into custody after Vaddukkoddai Police established a roadblock at Ponnalai Junction after receiving a tip-off that fake currency notes were being transported in a motorbike. Officers found 21 fake Rs 5000 notes and a fake Rs 1000 notes from the suspects' possession. 

Further interrogation of the suspects also led police to a laptop and a printer they had used to print the forged notes. 

The suspects, aged 31 and 35, are residents of Puthukkudiyiruppu and Jaffna. They are due to be produced before the Mallakam Magistrate's Court today (12).
