Twelve persons who attempted to illegally migrate to Australia by boat have been arrested in Chilaw, police said.
The suspects have been identified as residents of Valaichchenai, Welikanda, Kalkudah, and Thoduwawa.
Further investigations are currently underway.
Customs have detected 228 mobile phones and tabs valued at over Rs 30 million left behind in the duty free shopping complex at the Banaranaike International Airport today, Customs officials said.
