A 12-hour police curfew is currently in effect till 6.00am tomorrow (19), in several areas within the Galle District.
Accordingly the Police curfew will be imposed to Kurunduwatha, Mahahapugala, Welipitimodara, Ukwaththa, Gintota East, Gintota West and Piyandigama, local media reported.

A police curfew has been imposed in Kurunduwatta, Maha Hapugala, Welipitimodara, Ukwatta, Ginthota and Piyandigama Grama Sevaka Divisions.
The curfew was imposed in order to control a tense situation that prevailed in the area and to restore normalcy. According to reports, several houses and shops have been attacked by angry mobs in the Gintota area.
