Police fire tear gas, water cannon at student protest

Police used tear gas and water cannon to disperse a protest march being conducted by university students at Kollupitiya junction. The students were mostly students from medical faculties. They had been marching to Colombo from the Sri Jayewardenepura University. 

The students had been marching over several demands, including the closure of private universities.
