Police have introduced two emergency hotline numbers today (Sept 24) so that the general public can call and inform the Police in the event of sudden emergencies owing to the inclement weather.
Those affected can inform the Police on the following numbers 0112 587229 and 0112 2454576, the Police Media Unit said in a statement.
In addition, specially trained police lifeguards and disaster relief officers have been dispatched in groups of 50 to Galle, Matara and Kalutara Police divisions.
Meanwhile, the Police Naval Division has dispatched 50 boats and rafts to the affected areas as well, the statement said.
