Police have commenced investigations into the killing of a son by his father in Maligawatte yesterday (Jun 6).
According to the Police, the father had stabbed his wife and son at their residence in Maligawatte Place between 12:30 pm - 1 pm.
The incident had occured as a result of a long standing family dispute, preliminary investigations have shown.
Following the stabbing, the mother and the son had been rushed to the Colombo General Hospital before the latter had succumbed to his injuries.
Police have identified the deceased son as 17-year old Sherifdeen Mohamed. The father has been taken into custody.
Further investigations into the incident are being carried out by the Maligawatte Police.
