Police are questioning a relative of a suspect believed to be involved in the killing of a 13-year old boy in Katuwana last Saturday (Oct 19), Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said.
An investigation had been launched to locate and apprehend the suspect after an autopsy carried out at the Embilipitya hospital showed the cause of the death as strangling.
Accordingly, police had arrested an individual on the day of the incident, before learning that he is the relative of the suspect who is alleged to have carried out the killing.
He is being questioned on a 24-hour detention order after being produced before the Walasmulla Magistrate's Court.
