Police have uncovered information on two suspects involved in a series of thefts and for plotting the murder of a businessman.
The suspects, both 41 years old, had been arrested last month with 2.3 grams of heroin and had been detained on court orders until yesterday (Oct 2).
Upon questioning, Police had learn that the suspects had looted gold from a shop in Ingiriya last month by threatening employees.
Around 17 pounds of stolen gold had then been recovered from the suspects.
Further, the suspects are also believed to have been involved in plotting the murder of a businessman and and the robbery of a Sanasa Bank in Avissawella.
Investigations are underway to recover the other stolen goods.
The suspects, A. Wijepala and D. Ollivera, are to be produced before the Horana Magistrate's Court today.
