A new three-storeyed court complex which has been built at a cost of Rs 327 million will be declared open in Polonnaruwa on Thursday (Sept 5), the Justice Ministry said.
Issuing a statement, the Ministry noted that the newly constructed facility would comprise a high court, district court and a magistrate’s court each along with other facilities such as offices and parking areas.
The complex has been constructed on a 3700 square metres plot of land in which the foundation stone had been laid in 2017.
Meanwhile, the Rs 1119 million worth court complex in Matara and the Rs 82 million worth appeal court building in Kalmunai will be declared open this year, the Ministry noted in a statement.
The statement added that court complexes are to be constructed in Welimada at a cost of Rs 500 million, in Teldeniya at Rs 400 million, and in Pugoda at a cost of Rs 450 million, in near future.
In addition, construction of a High Court in Matale too is underway, the Ministry said.
