United National Party (UNP) Deputy Leader Minister Sajith Premadasa yesterday (Sept 10) said that a "positive outcome" of his talks with party leader Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe could be expected in a few days.
He made these remarks following what was expected to be a decisive and crucial meeting on the presidential candidate of the UNP and its United National Front alliance, at Temple Trees last night.
Responding to reporters, Mr. Premadasa opined that the talks were "positive" and that more discussions would be held in future. He noted that more talks would be held in due course.
The UNP Deputy Leader, in response to his recent meeting with the Tamil National Alliance, said that he would receive the support of all political parties including the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna.
The meeting with the Prime Minister came in the wake of both Mr. Wickremesinghe and Mr. Premadasa expressing willingness to contest at the presidential polls.
Ministers Malik Samarawickrama, Ranjith Madduma Bandara, Kabir Hashim, and Rajitha Senaratne had attended the meeting.
Against this backdrop, non-cabinet minister Harsha de Silva, and minister Harin Fernando took to their Twitter handles and said that Minister Premadasa would be nominated as the presidential candidate.
