President Maithripala Sirisena has appointed a five-member commission to the Office for Reparations for a three year period, the Prime Minister's office said yesterday (Apr 04).
The committee would be chaired by Dhara Wijethilake and will comprise of A.A. Fathihu, Col. (Rtd.) W.W. Rathnapriya Bandu, Dr. J.M. Swaminadan, and Sumithra Sellathamby who would serve as members of the Commission.
An sum of Rs 700 million was allocated for the establishment and staffing of the Office for Reparations in this year's budget.
The Commissioners were selected and nominated through the Constitutional Council before it was sent to the President for approval.
