President Maithripala Sirisena has appointed a committee to study a proposal submitted by the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) on the proposed alliance involving the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP).
Both parties had submitted their proposals on the alliance when they had met for the sixth round of discussions yesterday (Jun 26), SLFP General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekara said.
Accordingly, Mr. Sirisena, the leader of the SLFP had appointed an eight-member committee comprising senior members of the party.
This included, Nimal Siripala de Sila, Mahinda Amaraweera, Lasantha Alagiyawanna, Reginald Cooray, Faiszer Mustapha, Dayasiri Jayasekara and Thilanga Sumathipala.
