President Maithripala Sirisena has said he expects the people to vote for a clean government which loves the country, at the upcoming presidential elections.
Addressing the opening of a district general hospital in Nuwara Eliya today (July 15), the President had pointed out that the country could be rebuilt despite its economic and political setbacks only by voting honest politicians into power.
He had also noted that only politicians who love the country will understand the problems faced by the people and take the relevant steps to resolve them.
President Sirisena had also claimed that the current government had resolved the issues of estate workers while also improving free healthcare and educational facilities and meeting other needs of the people.
He said that taking steps to improve the country was a ‘fruitless exercise’ due to the personal agendas of certain politicians and their parties.
On the same lines, Mr. Sirisena had noted that the illegal narcotics trade is the easiest way to destroy the country.
