President Maithriapala Sirisena today declared that he was confident of a 113 member majority in Parliament and the public should not have doubts about it.
President Sirisena was addressing a rally organized to show the support to the UPFA and the newly appointed Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa close to the Parliament in Kotte.
He said that he was able to end the rule which introduced repressive taxes and acted in against national interest.
He said the decision taken to name Mr Rajapaksa as the Prime Minister was well within the Constitution.
He said he could not work with Mr Wickremesinghe as he was not protecting national interests and that he had now found a person who could bulldoze over him. He said that person was Mr Rajapaksa.
He said previously decisions were taken not by the cabinet, but by a small group around Mr Wickremesinghe.
He said while Mr Rajapaksa was calling on the Mahanayaka theras and visiting religious places, Mr Wickremesinghe was banking on the foreign missions.
He said if there were any issues they should be resolved in courts.
He said the strength for the government was that 80 per cent of the public are supportive of the decision taken.
