President Maithripala Sirisena and Dutch Foreign Minister Stef Block have discussed the possibility of obtaining the support of the Netherlands Government to develop the dairy industry in Sri Lanka.
The President's Office, in a statement, said that both officials had held discussions, over the weekend at the President's Official Residence in Colombo.
During the discussion, the Dutch official had highlighted the importance of strengthening international cooperation in combatting terrorism, the statement read.
President Sirisena had thanked the Dutch government for its assistance towards projects concerning road development, water purification, and infrastructure.
He had informed Blok that he would remain "apoliticial" during the upcoming presidential election. He had assured that the polls would be conducted in "more peaceful and democratic manner without malpractices".
Further, the President had stated that he has instructed the police and the armed forces, to preserve law and order during the election.
