President Maithripala Sirisena said a special program for coast conservation and preservation would be initiated shortly. “That program will be implemented with support of every party”, he added. The President made these remarks during an inspection tour to Coast Conservation Department today (Aug. 26). President Sirisena who arrived in Coast Conservation Department in Maligawatta observed its work. After that he met the staff at the auditorium. The President inquired about the progress of the conservation and preservation programs carried out by the Department. He looked into the issues arisen in implementation of these programmes. He pointed out the importance of paying special attention on soil formation project. He directed the officials to remove unauthorized buildings with the help of the police. Director General of Coast Conservation and Coastal Resource Management Department Mr. B. K. Prabhath Chandrasiri also joined the discussion. President also held cordial discussions with the staff.
