President Gotabaya Rajapaksa today (Nov 22) said that a selection panel has been appointed to choose the heads, and board of directors of public corporations and statutory institutions.
He made these remarks following the swearing in ceremony of a 16-member caretaker cabinet at the Presidential Secretariat this morning.
The President said that state ministers would be appointed next Monday, and called on all newly-appointed ministers to support them in their ministerial activities.
“The public has huge expectations on us,” Rajapaksa observed.
He pointed out that the government should carry out activities that would change the people’s attitude of disliking politics.
President Rajapaksa noted that some state bodies had faced losses under the previous government, resulting in the burdening of the Treasury.
He called on the ministers to provide low-income earning families with employment opportunities in sectors which do not require skills.
