President Sirisena who left for the USA this morning will address the General Assembly of the United Nations on September 30, during the 70th Session of the UN General Assembly Meeting, held at the UN Headquarters, in New York, local media reported. Sri Lanka’s delegation is led by the President and Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera, Minister of Justice Wijedasa Rajapakshe and the Minister of Skills Development and Vocational Training Mahinda Samarasinghe, along with other officials, will participate in the assembly as well, the President’s Media Unit says.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to vacate his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo this morning, a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) source said.
The Presidents’ Entitlements (Repeal) Bill was passed by a majority of 150 in parliament today. However the opposition MP’s were absent during the voting.
