President unable to attend brother's funeral owing to schedule change
Owing to a schedule change President Maithripala Sirisena was unable to attend the funeral of his brother, Priyantha Sirisena, local media reported.
Spokesman of the President's Media Unit was quoted by local media as saying he was expected to return from China last night.
The funeral of Priyantha Sirisena, who died due to an axe attack on Saturday, was held in Polonnaruwa yesterday (March 30). However, President Sirisena who was on an official visit to China was unable to attend the funeral owing to a last minute schedule change.
