President Gotabaya Rajapaksa vowed today that he will not any room for attempts to discredit or destroy the dignity of war heroes while indicating that he will also not hesitate to withdraw Sri Lanka from such international bodies or organizations.
“If any international body or organization continuously target our country and our war heroes, using baseless allegations, I will also not hesitate to withdraw Sri Lanka from such bodies or organizations,” President Rajapaksa said while addressing at National War Heroes’ Day commemoration today at Battaramulla War Heroes’ Monument.
He further added that the highest honour that can be bestowed on the war heroes is to transform this country which was protected by them by laying their lives to a land where every citizenry can live in peace, harmony and with dignity.
“In a situation where even leaders of powerful countries have emphatically stated that they would not allow any action against their war heroes, in a small country like ours where our war heroes have sacrificed so much, I will not allow anyone to exert undue pressure on them or harass them,” President said.
