Kosgoda Police have commenced an investigation into the murder of a Buddhist monk at a temple in Mahainduruwa.
The 73-year-old victim has been identified as the chief incumbent of the Sri Wijeyadharmananda Pirivena. His body was found inside the 'Avasa Geya' of the temple.
Further investigations are ongoing to find those behind the crime. The Balapitiya Magistrate has conducted the magisterial inquiry and the post-mortem examination is being conducted at the Balapitiya hospital.
