The Court of Appeal today announced its decision to take up the contempt of court case against civil activist Prof Sarath Wijesuriya for hearing on January 14.
A two-judge bench ordered the respondents to file counter objections to the charges before the end of December.
In this case, Prof. Wijesuriya, the Convener of National Movement for Social Justice (NMSJ), is accused of making defamatory remarks on social media against the judiciary.
The complaint was filed by Attorney Sampath Vijitha Kumara and retired Army Officer Anil Wasantha Alwis.
