The Railways Department, next year, will appoint a Flying Squad to step-up efforts in establishing an efficient rail service in the country.
The Flying Squad will be tasked with handling issues pertaining to commuters, Railways State Minister C.B. Ratnayake said.
He noted that the team would also be appointed to probe any irregularities in the Railways Department.
In addition, the public could contact the Flying Squad through a hotline which would be set-up in future, to report any illegal activity taking place inside trains or railway stations.
