Parliamentarian Rajitha Senaratne has been admitted to a private hospital in Colombo in the backdrop of an arrest warrant issued on him by the Colombo Magistrate's Court.
Senaratne is facing arrest for organising a media briefing attended by two persons which included an individual claiming to be a "white van" driver during alleged abductions before 2015.
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) had obtained an arrest warrant from court this week upon the advice of the Attorney General.
However, CID officers have so far failed to apprehend the former minister despite carrying out search operations at his residences in Colombo and Beruwala.
An anticipatory bail application filed by the parliamentarian, before the arrest warrant was issued, seeking the prevention of his arrest is set to be heard further on December 30 at the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.
