Rajitha, Sajith won't appear before PCoI, Police unit today

News

Ministers Rajitha Senaratne and Sajith Premadasa will not appear before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) and its Police Unit respectively today (Sept 20).

Health Minister Senaratne had been asked to give evidence before the PCoI over a complaint alleging that the government has been incurring expenditures of the Dr Neville Fernando Hospital in Malabe without acquiring it.

The testimony had been rescheduled for today after he had informed the Commission yesterday that he would not be able to attend the inquiry due to a special cabinet meeting.

However, the Commission would now decide on another day to carry out the inquiry, a Commission Spokesman said.

Meanwhile, Housing Minister Sajith Premadasa had been asked to appear before the Police Unit of the PCoI today for allegedly recruiting excess staff to the National Housing and Development Authority which comes under his purview.

However, he too had informed that he would not be able to give evidence today.
