The Chief Justice (CJ) Mohan Peris has reportedly agreed to step down from office, Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne said today. He said CJ Mohan Peris conveyed his position through Prime Minister. Meanwhile Mr. Senaratne said investigations regarding the killing of Former Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentarian Nadarajah Raviraj in 2006 have been completed and it will be presented to the courts shortly. He said that the investigations also underway in to the high profile killings of Former Editor of Sunday Leader newspaper Lasantha Wickrematunge, Former Parliamentarian Jeyaraj Fernandopulle and former TNA parliamentarian Joseph Pararajasingham in the past.

A Sri Lankan man was apprehended at Suvarnabhumi airport for attempting to smuggle wildlife out of the country after three ball pythons were found hidden in his underwear, the Bangkok post reported.
The UK government has unveiled a package of reforms to simplify imports from developing countries which allows for more garments manufactured in Sri Lanka to enter the UK tariff-free.
