United National Party (UNP) leader Ranil Wickremesinghe is expected to appoint a leadership council within the UNP next week, sources said.
The next UNP leader will be appointed from this council based on their performances pertaining to certain tasks which will be entrusted with them during the general election.
Parliamentarians Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, Sajith Premadasa, Harin Fernando, and Navin Dissanayake are expected to be among those in the leadership council.
