Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is expected to impose certain conditions should Minister Sajith Premadasa be nominated as the United National Party (UNP)'s Presidential candidate.
According to sources at the Prime Minister's office these conditions would be imposed during tomorrow's meeting between UNP leader Wickremesinghe and his Deputy Premadasa.
So far, both individuals have expressed their intentions to contest at the upcoming polls.
However, Mr. Wickremesinghe is expected to impose a condition that the UNP's Central Committee must agree on nominating Minister Premadasa as a candidate and that he should agree to abolish the Executive Presidency if voted into power.
Another condition would be that all parties which are expected to form the UNP-led Democratic National Front (DNF) alliance should express agreement on the UNP Deputy Leader's candidacy, the source said.
