UPFA parliamentarian Arundika Fernando yesterday (Jan 08) said that he would apologise for sitting on the Speaker’s chair if it was an offence.
MP Fernando had unlwafully occupied the Speaker’s chair on November 16 during the mayhem in Parliament.
Addressing Parliament yesterday he said that it was an unintentional mistake. However, he claimed that parliamentary proceedings had not begun and the mace was not placed at the time of the incident.
The Puttalam District parliamentarian had made these remarks in response to a question raised by MP Mujibur Rahuman.
