Two foreign vessels that were intercepted by the Sri Lanka Navy while smuggling stocks of heroin were brought to the Dikowita Fisheries Harbour this morning.
The navy arrested 16 foreign nationals along with the vessels. They have been identified as those from Iran and Pakistan.
The navy seized 400kg of heroin and 100kg of the drug known as 'ICE' from the captured vessels.
The haul of 400 kilograms of heroin found on the vessels is the largest heroin haul seized in the high seas off Sri Lanka.
