The residence of the British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka has been powered with a power system that would generate 300 KWH solar energy each day.
The power system was declared open by the UK Minister for the Asia and Pacific region Mark Field today, the British High Commission said in a press release.
“We are delighted to be able to combine the latest in green technologies with the power of the Sri Lankan sunshine to generate our electricity needs here at Westminster House" British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, James Dauris said. He also added that the High Commission has cut down on the use of disposable plastic.
At the launch, Mr. Field noted that solar power would significantly reduce the High Commission’s carbon footprint.
