A cabinet member yesterday disclosed that he was offered Rs 20 million per month to keep 'silence' over the Avant Garde controversy. Minister Rajitha Senaratna told at the weekly cabinet briefing that the person who tried to offer bribe was turned away and the intermediary has recorded all the telephone conversations related to the offer. He said the recordings will be available and put forward at the right time. The government is currently investigating the the Avant Garde company which had a floating armory using state owned arms. Then Defense Secretary Gothabaya Rajapaksa is under investigations over the issue.
