Minister S.B. Dissanayake has been appointed as the Chief Government Whip in Parliament.
The decision to appoint Minister Dissanayake to the said position was reached following a meeting that took place between MPs of the UPFA yesterday.
Accordingly, he is expected to assume duties from tomorrow onwards
The final rites of veteran broadcaster, writer, and lyricist Nirmala de Alwis will be held today at Peradeniya.
