'Satyagraha' today calling for Mahendran's removal

The Anti-Corruption Front, together with other civil society organizations, will hold a 'Satyagraha' opposite the Colombo Fort Raiilway Station today calling on the Government to remove Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran from his post. 

Civil society organizations have been at the forefront of the campaign to remove Governor Mahendran on grounds that he has several serious allegations of wrongdoing against him. They have urged the Government not to reappoint him to his post after his period of service comes to an end at the end of the month. 

Meanwhile, at the Cabinet press briefing yesterday, Co-Cabinet Spokesman Minister Rajitha Senaratne confirmed that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe had assured civil society representatives that Arjuna Mahendran will not be appointed until investigations against him are concluded.
